Finding Your Musical Voice
“Every student’s voice is powerful, and I want to help them find it.”
Music has the power to shape a life, unlocking growth, creativity and a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. I became a teacher because I believe in that power, and because I've seen what happens when a student discovers it for themselves.
“A teacher acts as a medium through which students can work towards their potential, expand their perspective, and become self-sufficient learners.”
My approach begins with listening. Before I offer an idea, I want to understand yours: your goals, your musical instincts and your relationship with the instrument. From there, we build together. I adjust my methodology and style for each individual, drawing on skill-building, repertoire development, musicianship, analysis, stylistic comparison, art history, ear training, arranging, and life advising, as the student's path determines.

How I work with Students
-
Student-led goals
You set the direction. I ask the questions that help you figure out where you want to go and how to get there on your own terms.
-
Individual practice paths
There is no single method. I help each student distill a practice process that fits their learning style, schedule, and creative instincts.
-
Build before imposing
I aim to understand and develop your thinking before I offer my own. Your musical voice will carry you forward, and I will be there to support and supplement.
-
Music as a whole life
Learning music is learning to think, to listen, and to express. I bring that broader view into every lesson, regardless of level or goal.
A Moment From the Studio
"I once worked with a student who had a deep passion for Bollywood music. Rather than redirect him toward standard repertoire, we used his favorite songs for ear training and pattern-based learning. His enthusiasm led me to pursue my own study of Indian Carnatic music - exploring its applications to rhythm and scale training. He taught me as much as I taught him. That exchange is exactly what teaching should feel like: a mutual dialogue." - William Hume
